Social Entrepreneurship

One of PSD’s aims, particularly with the Social Entrepreneurship projects which utilize Service Learning as an approach, is to provide tools for youth to develop themselves and become the driving force behind sustainable community development.  We found social enterprises to be particularly apt solution in Palestine where the current system fails to address root causes of unemployment or provide young people with opportunities to develop themselves.  Social entrepreneurship refers to using business principles for social good.   Usually focused on profits, public benefit, and minimal environmental impact, social enterprises require innovation and the ability to see and seize opportunities to foster change.  They put individuals in the driver’s seat of designing, managing and growing their own businesses and have the ability to drive social and economic growth.
