Advancing Ai for Sustainable Development
Advancing AI for Sustainable Development’s objective is to equip youth with AI skills that are applicable in daily life, enhancing their capabilities to navigate and leverage AI technologies across various life aspects effectively. Implemented by Partners for Development (PSD) and funded by USAID Building Regional Economic Bridges (BREB) Activity, the project also seeks to upskill Palestinian talent and lay the foundation for regional economic cooperation.
Main Activities and Goals
- AI and Generative AI Skills Training: Enhance the AI proficiency of 100 youth from 5 universities/areas through a comprehensive training program:
- 48 hours of face-to-face sessions conducted by national experts/professors.
- 16 hours of online training delivered by international experts.
- Training will focus on key areas such as data mining, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), retrieval augmented generation, generative AI, and data aggregation.
- Development of AI-Based Projects: Facilitate the creation of 20 AI-based projects across
fields including education, agriculture, health, logistics, and marketing. This will be achieved through:
- Conducting a thorough needs assessment to identify project focus areas.
- Delivering a 20-hour design thinking course per university.
- Organizing a two-day workshop on AI project-based approaches.
- Hosting contests in each university to select the best project ideas.
- Holding a hackathon to develop and pitch project ideas, selecting the most promising.
- Providing mentorship and coaching to prepare selected projects for investment and
- startup launch.
- AI Research Skills Enhancement: Enhance AI research capabilities to publish 5 research papers on AI-based projects by:
- Encouraging participating professors to conduct in-depth research and produce white
- papers on AI and generative AI topics.
- Facilitating connections between professors and international experts for collaborative
- AI research endeavors.
