Wassel Ghanem
Dr. Ghanem has been a senior faculty member at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department since 1999. He has held several leadership roles, including serving as Dean of Engineering and Technology and Director General of the Palestine Education Initiative (PEI), where he played a key role in promoting ICT integration in education within the school system.
Dr. Ghanem earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (Communications and Computer Systems) from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 1990 and 1993, respectively. In 1994, he received a DAAD scholarship to pursue his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Electron Devices & Sensors) at University Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Fraunhofer Institute of Applied Research in Germany, where he completed his doctorate in 1999.
His research interests include Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning, Wireless Sensor Networks, Smart Sensors, Virtual Reality, and ICT in Education. He has actively contributed to multiple EU Erasmus projects as a local coordinator and developer, including RUFO, MVU, METHODS, and others.
Dr. Ghanem’s work continues to advance technological innovation and digital transformation in both engineering and education.
